Lindsay Lohan sure had a doozy of a night last Wednesday. Even though the troubled starlet claims she is in NYC for some R&R with her fam, it has been the club scene and reality stars who have commanded most of her attention. She may have been chugging back water all night, but her decision to jump right back into the kinds of places that have gotten her into trouble in the past could spell danger for Li-Lo, addiction experts tell PopEater.According to the New York Post, Lohan partied with a posse that included 'The City' star Samantha Swetra and Next Models booker Derek Saathoff. She went clubbing at SL, where she hopped in the booth with DJ Phresh.
She then headed over to 1Oak, where she was reportedly making out with some random dude.
"People, places and things can all be triggers for a relapse," Dr. Paul Hokemeyer, a marriage and family therapist with Caron Treatment Centers, tells PopEater. "Even if she is technically still sober -- that kind of behavior can lead a person back to their old unhealthy habits."
It certainly seems like Lohan is slinking back to her old ways. She also had a reported rendezvous with her ex, Samantha Ronson, but judging from the tonsil hockey she was playing later that night, things probably didn't go the way she had planned.
If Lohan is trying to prove that she has moved past her hard partying ways, showing up to some of NYC's hottest and most notorious dens of gossip was not the way to do it. Of course, she may not realize she has other options.
"The media tends to overly glamorize the alcohol and drug-fueled party scene," says Hokemeyer. "I work with both sober and actively using young adults. Trust me, the sober ones are having the most fun and are accomplishing their dreams. In fact, there's this whole subculture of clean and sober young adults who navigate life in New York City with more style and energy than the intoxicated ones."
