Heidi Jones, former WABC-TV weatherlady, was indicted over phony claims that an unknown Hispanic man tried to attack her in Central Park.

Prosecutors maybe playing hardball with ex-TV weathercaster Heidi Jones.

The one-time WABC-TV forecaster charged with faking claims she was assaulted by a mystery man in Central Park has been indicted, her lawyer said yesterday.

Prosecutors rarely seek an indictment for lower level crimes.

"I don't know what it means," said Paul Callan, Jones' lawyer, who had tried to make a plea deal.

Callan said he wants the indictment tossed because Jones wasn't given a chance to defend herself before the panel.

"The case was presented to the grand jury without any notification to me or my client ...The grand jury has returned a misdemeanor indictment," Callan said. Manhattan prosecutors would not comment.

Jones first claimed she was attacked last fall, but then admitted she made the whole thing up because she was going through a lot of stress. She'll be arraigned on the indictment June 29.
