British newspapers are slowly but surely coming out with details on what happened at the two royal wedding receptions.
First up was Queen Elizabeth's afternoon luncheon for 650 people at Buckingham Palace where canapes and champagne were served. Prince Charles' speech seemingly stole the show. According to the Daily Mail, he emotionally described Kate Middleton as the daughter he never had and got some laughs after mentioning Prince William's hairline. Charles spoke while standing up on some sort of platform and supposedly remarked, "The thing about growing older is that your children get taller than you so they can see your bald spots. Now in my case, I can see his."
A group of 300 returned to the palace in the evening for a second celebration. Take a look at Duchess Catherine's evening look here. An attendee described the scene for the Telegraph:
"It looked absolutely stunning," said one guest. "There must have been at least 30 round tables, with 10 people on each, decorated with beautiful white flowers and candles.
"When we had arrived earlier, we were each given a little envelope with our table name on it, and the tables had a personal touch too - they had clearly been named after places that were special to the couple and their friends."
Table names included "Lewa" -- after Lewa Downs, the family home of Miss Craig, at the foot of Mount Kenya, where Prince William spent several months during his gap year and where he returned several times during his courtship of Miss Middleton.
Another table was "Tetbury" after the town in Gloucestershire which is close to Highgrove, Prince Charles's country home, and several Welsh-themed table names in a nod to their current home in Anglesey where the Prince works as a search and rescue helicopter pilot.
There was also, of course, a "St Andrews" table, after the Scottish university where the couple began their romance.
On the menu: a three-course dinner by chef Anton Mossiman, including terrine of dressed crab and tiger prawns, Aberdeen Angus beef fillet, Welsh lamb from the Highgrove estate, spring vegetables grilled and blanched and a trio of chocolate puddings.
And best man Prince Harry delivered his much-anticipated speech. Some deets from the Mail:
One partygoer leaving Buckingham Palace event in the early hours of Saturday told The Mail on Sunday: 'Harry said William was the perfect brother. It was exactly how you would expect a best man's speech to be. He cracked loads of jokes about William. He called him a "dude" several times. He kept coming back to it, saying "What a dude".'
Harry described his brother's relationship with Kate as 'inspirational' and to much applause added: 'William didn't have a romantic bone in his body before he met Kate, so I knew it was serious when William suddenly started cooing down the phone at Kate.'
Harry, famous for his impersonations, then did a high-pitched impression of Kate calling William 'Billy' and of his brother calling Kate 'baby', to much hilarity from the guests.
Michael Middleton also spoke, remarking, "I knew things were getting serious when I found a helicopter in my garden. I thought, gosh, he must like my daughter."
Eventually, guests were herded into the Throne Room, which was decked out with a dance floor, stage, bar, strobe lights and sofas. The entertainment was provided by English singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding and according to the Daily Mail, Prince William and Kate set their first dance as a married couple to a cover of Elton John's "Your Song." However, according to the Telegraph, it was Goulding's hit "Starry-Eyed." Their last dance of the night: "She Loves You" by The Beatles. Then there were fireworks. Literally.
Around 3:30 a.m., Prince Harry, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Pippa Middleton and Chelsy Davy headed out to hit various after parties. Prince William and Kate spent the night at Buckingham Palace and stepped out again on Saturday morning, which you can check out here.

Mariah Carey delivered two babies, a son and daughter, in Los Angeles on Saturday -- the same day as her wedding anniversary to Nick Cannon.
The pop star, 42, gave birth at 12:07 p.m., according to People.com.
Carey's rep confirmed that the couple's baby girl was first to arrive, weighing 5 lbs., 3 oz. (18 inches long), followed by their baby boy, weighing 5 lbs., 6 oz. (19 inches long).
The spokeswoman also said Carey's single 'We Belong Together' was the music playing after the twins arrived.
Cannon, 30, tweeted his joy:
The names of the newborn sister and brother have not yet been made public.
When he guest-hosted 'The Talk' earlier this week, Cannon told viewers how he felt knowing he'd be meeting his babies soon: "I'm not trying to be a psychic, but we renew our vows every year so...It's probably going to be in the hospital this year," he hinted. "I can feel it."
As an expectant mom, Carey has been dealing with double the anticipation, and has been frequently sharing her excitement with fans -- showing off a posh his & hers nursery, and posting twitpics of her baby bump painted like a butterfly and an Easter egg. The new parents also got in front of the camera together for a magazine shoot, ending up with memorable nude photos taken during Carey's voluptuous pregnancy.
Congratulations, Mariah and Nick, on the double delivery!
Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy It's a girl! Bethenny Frankel of the 'Real Housewives of New York City' gave birth to a baby girl on May 8, 2010. Bryn Hoppy was born at 8AM in New York City and weighed 4 lb. 12 oz.
It's a sign you probably see (and hopefully follow) everyday of the week: "Please wash hands before returning to work." Usually, this simple mandate is accompanied by a graphic. And more often than not, that graphic looks pretty much nothing like what we know as hand-washing.
Until now, we couldn't really put our finger on what it actually looks like. But Reddit user Tentacles posted this hilariously hacked version of the classic sign that perfectly describes what that graphic actually depicts.

Jennifer wowed the already-excited crowds as she and a group of backup dancers let loose, waving, dancing, and laughing their way into the huge outdoor affair.
"Love?," the first record released by Lopez in four years, offers listeners fun and funky dance anthems and even two songs written or produced by Lady Gaga.
Breastfeeding seems to be doing wonders for new mom Miranda Kerr ? she posted a photo of herself nursing 3-month-old son Flynn while at a shoot for Victoria?s Secret on Thursday.
The Australia beauty looked camera-ready while lounging backstage in a silky robe, red stilettos and wavy hair.
"Another day in the office. Back to work for VS. Flynn is with me on set! Lil cutie pie Xxx,? Kerr, 28, Tweeted.
The supermodel, who gave birth to her son with Orlando Bloom on January 6, is already back in catwalk shape.
After a surprise return to the runway in March, Kerr was back in beachwear earlier this month, where she showed off her trim and toned figure in a bikini by Have Faith during a photo shoot in Malibu.
What does her husband Bloom think of her post-baby body?
"It's genetics,? he said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday. "It's amazing. She looks incredible.?
When DeGeneres asked how she got back into shape so quickly, Bloom, 34, responded, "A lot of breastfeeding."

WASHINGTON ? Sean Bergenheim, Dwayne Roloson and the rest of the Tampa Bay Lightning picked up right where they left off.
Bergenheim scored early, Steve Downie had a goal and an assist, and Steven Stamkos netted the go-ahead goal on a power play, helping the Lightning beat the top-seeded Washington Capitals 4-2 on Friday night in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals series.
Roloson, Tampa Bay's 41-year-old goalie, made 26 saves.
Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin was held without a point and limited to two shots. Alexander Semin and Eric Fehr scored for Washington, which led 2-1 before allowing Downie and Stamkos to put Tampa Bay ahead with goals less than 3 1/2 minutes apart late in the second period.
Dominic Moore added an empty-netter with 40 seconds left for the fifth-seeded Lightning, who have won four straight games since falling behind Pittsburgh 3-1 in the first round.
The Lightning played most of Friday's game without veteran left wing Simon Gagne, who was helped to the dressing room after his helmet banged on the ice when he fell hard following a hit by Capitals defenseman Scott Hannan. The Lightning said Gagne would be re-evaluated Saturday.
Game 2 is Sunday night at Washington.
Roloson got the shutout and Bergenheim provided the only goal when the Lightning edged the Penguins 1-0 in Game 7 on Wednesday night. After that series ended, Tampa Bay flew straight from Pittsburgh to Washington, then was back on the ice less than 45 hours later for Friday's second-round opener.
The lack of time off didn't seem to bother the Lightning.
The Capitals, on the other hand, wrapped up their first series against the New York Rangers in five games last Saturday and had nearly a week off. Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau made light of the "Rest vs. Rust" story line Thursday, but perhaps there was something to it.
In the first round, rookie goalie Michal Neuvirth and the Capitals allowed the Rangers to score a grand total of two goals in the three games played at Washington. The Lightning surpassed that total in a span of two periods.
Neuvirth finished with 20 saves Friday. He entered the day leading the NHL with a 1.38 goals-against average and second with a .946 save percentage. No. 1 in the save category? Roloson.
Tampa Bay's penalty kill was again tremendous, holding Washington to 0 for 5. The Lightning have killed 39 of 40 penalties this postseason.
Bergenheim put Tampa Bay ahead 2:12 in by poking in the puck during a scrum in front of Neuvirth, who wound up on his back. That immediately silenced the raucous, red-wearing Capitals crowd. Less than two minutes later, though, the arena was earsplittingly loud again, because Washington tied the game on Semin's fourth goal of this postseason.
Deep in his end, Lightning defenseman Mike Lundin turned the puck over with an errant pass that barely went off Capitals winger Marco Sturm's stick and right to Semin. He didn't hesitate and sent a shot right through Roloson at 4:08, giving Semin a goal in three consecutive games.
That was the Capitals' first shot of the game.
Resuming the sort of ill-tempered skirmishes these Southeast Division rivals engaged in during the regular season, there was plenty of hard hitting and near-fights. A scary moment came about 8 1/2 minutes in, when Gagne briefly stayed down on his back, motionless, after banging his helmet against the ice.
Lifted off his skates when he was slammed in a corner by Hannan, Gagne dropped down and didn't break his fall at all. Eventually, Gagne ? who has a history of head injuries ? was helped to the dressing room and didn't return.
The Capitals got to Roloson again early in the second period for a 2-1 lead. Rookie center Marcus Johansson won a faceoff, and the puck went to Jason Chimera. He went toward the back boards, then passed to a wide-open Fehr, who one-timed a shot into the upper-right corner for his first of this postseason, 1:51 into the period.
But Roloson got better, starting with a point-blank save on Jason Arnott a few minutes later.
The Lightning tied it with 3:43 left in the second, when Downie was trying to center the puck, but his pass deflected off Hannan's stick and fluttered over Neuvirth's right shoulder.
Tampa Bay got a power play when Chimera was sent off for roughing ? a call that drew boos from the home fans. Those jeers only grew louder, naturally, when the Lightning converted the extra-man chance with 31.6 seconds remaining in the period, as Stamkos deposited his own rebound.
NOTES: The Capitals had an apparent goal waived off 13 1/2 minutes in, when officials ruled Brooks Laich kicked the puck past Roloson. ... The Lightning recorded seven shots in the opening four minutes ? and then settled into more of a defensive style and needed more than 30 minutes of action to get their next seven. ... This is the second postseason series between Washington and Tampa Bay. The Lightning eliminated the Capitals in the first round in the 2002-03 season. ... The Lightning are in the playoffs for the first time since 2007, and they hadn't reached the second round since winning the Stanley Cup in 2004.

Fresh off of her big baby news, January Jones showed off her still-small baby bump while out in Hollywood, CA on Friday (April 29).
The pregnant "Mad Men" actress dropped off her ride to valet personnel as she met up with actress Jennifer Carpenter for a relaxing lunch at the Sunset Tower Hotel.
As previously reported by GossipCenter, Miss Jones' rep told People magazine on the baby-on-the-way on Thursday night, "January Jones is happy to announce that she is expecting her first child this fall."
Now speculation as to the father has become the subject of interest, as January split from boyfriend Jason Sudeikis early this year.
Vestments worn by Pope John Paul II during Masses he celebrated at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Dodger Stadium during his 1987 visit to the city will be displayed at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels this weekend, coinciding with his beatification in Rome.
The display will remain at the cathedral through the end of May, and include a kneeler used by the pope, his white "zucchetto" head covering and other items, according to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Photos from his visit will also be on display.
Diocese spokesman Tod Tamberg said that since John Paul II is being beatified, the items he used are now considered "holy relics."
"Some of the items, like the vestments and mitre he wore at the Coliseum Mass are being displayed publicly for the first time in nearly 25 years," Tamberg said.
Ceremonies will be held in Rome this weekend to mark John Paul II's beatification, which is a preliminary step toward sainthood. After being beatified, he will be referred to as Blessed Pope John Paul II.
Becoming a saint requires two confirmed miracles. Beatification means that one miracle has been confirmed.
"Blessed John Paul's gift was to make the Christian ideal seem new again," Los Angeles Archbishop Jose H. Gomez said. "He lived the Gospel with a passion and intelligence that was compelling and attractive. He inspired many to want to follow him, to share the joy of his friendship with Jesus Christ, to
dedicate themselves to what he called the `high standard of ordinary Christian living."'
Gomez will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving for the Beatification of Blessed Pope John Paul II at 8 a.m. Sunday at the cathedral, 555 W. Temple St.
It feels like our Twilight favorites are growing up before our eyes.
In the next installment, Part I of Breaking Dawn, Edward and Bella (Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart) take their relationship to the next level.
"They make love for the first time, they get married and pregnant," says director Bill Condon of the film, scheduled for release in November.
Here's are two newly-released photos of Edward and Bella's honeymoon:
In EW's cover story, Rob and Kristen discussed the exotic locations for the film. Much of the vampire honeymoon was shot outside the Brazilian town of Paraty.
"There's just this incredibly sensual vibe down there," reveals Condon.
While Jacob, the werewolf played by Taylor Lautner doesn't get the girl, he does manage to get over her, and in doing so "becomes a man," says Condon.
At least he gets to ride a cool motorcycle and run around soaking wet in the rain. Sadly, girls, he's got a shirt on, but you'll still enjoy the images below.
Rob Lowe told Oprah Winfrey he's grateful his sex tape eventually led him to a rehab program.
Rob Lowe loves his sex tape.
Though it caused a massive scandal for the former teen heartthrob when it was leaked in 1989 ? primarily because one of the women featured was revealed to be just 16 years old ? Lowe said he now recognizes it as a much-needed turning point in his life.
"It ends up being the greatest thing that ever happened to me," he said on Thursday's "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
"Because what it ends up doing is accelerating sort of my alcohol stuff to where I finally get sober," Lowe explained, "and have been able to have the rest of my life that I'm so blessed with, which is now 20 years of sobriety."
"I don't think any of it happens without [the video]," he added.
THE CAST OF 'ST. ELMO'S FIRE': WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Lowe, 47, pointed out, however, that sex tapes have recently become a hot commodity in Hollywood, purposefully made by stars to make money.
"Now people do sex tapes to help their careers," he said, telling Winfrey that there is a particular celebrity lawyer that is known for being the go-to guy for negotiating the sale of such videos.
"You make the tape, you give it to him and then you are shocked, shocked I tell you, that it is out. You are outraged and you are going to call a lawyer," he explained. "And then the lawyer sells it and you get paid."
The "Parks and Recreation" star, who was on the talk show to promote his new memoir "Stories I Only Tell My Friends," admitted that he loved his time in rehab.
"I highly recommend it. It was like going to college to get sober," he said, adding that he was always an overeager student.
"To me, rehab is serious business for serious people," the actor explained. "It's not a place you go for publicity or to escape a law or to rehabilitate your career, which unfortunately is what it's become."
Lowe also talked about his old friend Charlie Sheen, whom he first became close to at 13 but hasn't spoken to "in a while."
"Everybody in their childhood has that family where you know you're going to be there on Christmas Eve," he said. "And on any given weekend, you're going to be maybe spending the night in the guest bedroom. That was the Sheens' house for me growing up."
PHOTOS: THE WILD TIMES OF CHARLIE SHEEN
But Lowe recognizes that his "homeboy" doesn't share his positive view of rehab programs.
"I love him and he and I agree to disagree on sobriety," Lowe said, adding that he has offered to stand by Sheen as he gets the same help that "saved" his own life but the 45-year-old former sitcom star isn't interested.
"He has always been an iconoclast and a true character full of charisma and wild, and he's letting it all loose," Lowe explained. "He's like, 'You know what? I'm really going to go full throttle with what I've been keeping inside my whole life.' That's really where it's at."
Sheen's recent behavior "really is Charlie being Charlie," Lowe concluded, "in an obviously much more advanced, hopped-up version."
Is having a sweet tooth okay, or should you fight it at all costs? The truth is that sweet cravings are tough to resist. In fact, our first craving from birth is sugar, delivered via our mother's milk. It may surprise you to learn that human breast milk has the highest carbohydrate (sugar) content among mammals' milk, delivering large amounts of energy in the form of lactose. As babies, we are drawn to the sugary sweet taste of breast milk; it's the first flavor that we begin to desire, so why wouldn't we crave sugar for life? A sweet tooth, for the purpose of this blog, is defined as wanting something sweet after your regular meal -- not to be confused with real hunger that can create a sweet tooth.
These cravings are not new to the human experience; rather they have been ingrained in us all along. We all know what it is like to long for certain foods depending on our mood, our environment and our own taste preferences. But did you know that human interest in sweets can be traced back as far as 500 B.C. (and probably even further), when people in India boiled sugar cane to extract sucrose for crystallization into candy? If we've been satisfying our sweet cravings for such a long time, why is it that we are so obsessed by them now?
The answer is that modern life requires us to work longer hours, sleep less, stress more, skip meals and cut carbs -- all factors that contribute to our desire for sweet treats. Our constant exposure to convenient foods presents us with a daily battle against overindulgence. The problem really isn't that we have these cravings in the first place -- it's that our inattention to hunger cues causes us to overeat. On top of that, the environment we live in has changed dramatically in a short period of time and now we can have fast food at our fingertips any time of day.
Just think, it's 3 p.m.: You're at work, feeling tired and stressed, and you've skipped breakfast and only had lettuce for lunch. Then you imagine a chocolate-chip cookie. If you are like most people in America, it doesn't take much to make this fantasy cookie munch-down reality. Right outside your office, you have your choice: skip over to a Starbucks, walk over to Walgreens or bounce over to the bakery. Voila! That cookie is yours.
One hundred years ago, you would likely have had to obtain the ingredients, often going to great lengths to get your hands on what we now consider to be basic staples like flour, sugar and spices. Lots of effort for a small reward, right?
Now, there are those folks who believe that sugar is evil, toxic and addictive, and there are those who don't agree. I believe that the over-consumption of sugar, as well as the increased intake of extreme processed and fake sugars, is unhealthy, and that the best bet to quench your desire for sweets is to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle -- and to address your cravings as they come up. Ask yourself, am I really interested in something sweet, or are am I just in need of some energy? Most sugar cravings are primal cues to eat, signals that the body requires additional energy, rather than symptoms of an addiction.
Today, our world is shaped by instant gratification and if we allow ourselves to give in every time we have a craving, we will inevitably end up gaining weight. We are facing a culture that favors quantity over quality, so we must arm ourselves with the knowledge, awareness and support needed to fight the call to consume, which is coming at us from every direction, each and every day.
Many clients tell me about their untamable desire for sweets. They believe that in order to lose weight, they have to eliminate sweet treats completely. When cravings crop up, they often eat one healthy snack after another in an attempt to fight the desire -- a habit which can add up to 800 calories at a time, when a few sweet treats might only add 150 calories. I say, enjoy a sweet treat now and then and moderate the portion.
Nothing's wrong with having a sweet tooth. Choose your treats wisely and respect your health by choosing quality over quantity, but, most of all, enjoy the whole experience of eating: from choosing your foods to cooking them to finally consuming them! Right now, you may feel guilty about your sugar cravings and pressured to fight the temptation to indulge, but please don't restrict yourself as this will only set you up to binge later on. Instead, allow yourself to have a reasonable amount of a sensible sweet snack.
So celebrate your sweet tooth instead of trying to fight it because, let's face it -- we were born to crave sugar. Practice your portion control and, most importantly, make sure that you eat all of your meals every day so that you don't confuse a sweet tooth with real hunger. Drop the guilt and treat yourself to something sensibly sweet today!

Jones, 33, will next be seen in X-Men: First Class.

Alex Pettyfer insisted to VMAN there is nothing 'cool or interesting to be said about' him.
Alex Pettyfer might as well go around singing the famous Joan Jett lyric, "I don't give a damn about my reputation."
Because, well, he doesn't. That much is clear from his new interview with VMan, featured in the magazine's summer 2011 issue.
"I've heard I've been called a bad boy, or difficult," he said, referencing his rumored anger-management problems. "Maybe that's because I don't take any bulls---."
The 21-year-old went on to rant about his career, living in "s---hole" Los Angeles and the lack of quality people worth his time.
"I think it's this insidious pool where nearly everyone lives in fear," the British-born actor said of L.A. "Geographically it's fantastic... but socially it's disgusting. I wish they'd run all the c--ts out."
The "I Am Number Four" actor, whose romance with co-star Dianna Agron came to an abrupt end in February just two weeks after they were rumored to be engaged, even claimed he has "thank you" tattooed above his crotch.
Pettyfer's bad temper became known in Hollywood as reports of his rage surfaced after his split with Agron.(Araya Diaz/WireImage; Mario Testino for VMAN)
It's "in case I forget to say it," he told the magazine while supposedly winking.
And the movie star, who appeared in his first film in 2005, has already become disillusioned with the world of acting.
"Being an actor is like being in prison," he explained. "You go, you serve your time, you try and replicate Johnny Depp's career - and then you move to Paris." (For what it's worth, Depp lives in Paris and still makes movies.)
In late February, a source described Pettyfer to People as "talented" but "immature" and "opinionated." "Drama surrounds him," the source said.
Another added that Pettyfer, who claims not to drink or do drugs and prefers spending time at home, stays "very isolated and he has a very bad temper."
CELEBRITY BREAKUPS: THE STARS HEAD TO SPLITSVILLE
Earlier that month, The Hollywood Reporter alleged the actor's difficult demands and antagonistic behavior were costing him movie roles.
"Pick your words: ambitious, hungry, cocky, very ahead of himself," a producer told the trade magazine. "But if he delivers, he'll be worth it."

Here's a by-the-playbook movie if ever there was one. The machinations leading up to the big night are hardly worth the fuss: Prom's entertainment quotient comes up deficient.
Familiar stories leading up to the big dance intersect clumsily. Nova (Aimee Teegarden), the over-achieving head of the prom committee, can't stand Jesse (Thomas McDonell), the long-haired bad boy who cuts class and zips around on a motorcycle. He scoffs at her beloved high school rituals. But wise Principal Dunnan (Jere Burns) throws them together to work on prom decorations. Though outwardly surly, Jesse is actually a softy who's devoted to his little brother and hardworking mom. Anyone who's made it past fifth grade can figure out that Nova and Jesse will end up together. Along the way, audiences must slog through a hackneyed prom-dress modeling montage and an inane spy mission to a school with the same prom theme.
The ensemble also includes jock Tyler (DeVaughn Nixon), who goes out with the equally popular girl Jordan (Kylie Bunbury) but fools around behind her back. Mei (Yin Chang) agonizes over telling her sweetly nerdy boyfriend, Justin (Jared Kusnitz), that she got into design school and won't be going to college with him.
These ordinary problems are blown up into melodrama with excruciatingly leaden dialogue.

This is the anti-Kids, a tale of an idyllic, squeaky-clean high school without gangs, drugs, cheating or bullying. The worst offense appears to be cutting class ? and that happens only because the offending kid has to help his mom.
It's not exactly a message movie. Even as it tries to show some depth behind the teen stereotypes, it reinforces them. This is High School Musical minus the singing and dancing. Any episode of Glee or even reruns of Degrassi are more connected to real life than this Disney production.
Events are predictable, and characters seem like cardboard cutouts. More effort is expended devising semi-clever ways for students to ask each other to prom than in giving students dimension. Once invitations are extended and connections formed, caricatured dreams come true.
For the rest of us, this "forever night" merely feels interminable.

For the first portion of my conversation with Pose's Director of Marketing and Communication Alisa Gould-Simon, we discussed the innovative iPhone app exclusively. However, Alisa is a true trendsetter with some serious style knowledge, so there was no way I was going to miss an opportunity to talk to her about the latest season. She clued me in on some of the must-have looks we'll be seeing around, as well as some good advice when it comes to dressing for a date.
We're kicking into spring and summer -- what do you think are some of the biggest fashion trends we can expect to see? Although they've been a staple for a few seasons now, maxi skirts seem to be alive and well (I'm loving versions with thigh-high slits or a sheer maxi over an opaque mini to freshen up the style). I'm noticing a lot of exposed backs on spring dresses; pants are transitioning into spring/summer and getting extremely loose and flowing (kudos to anyone who can pull off this modern take on culottes). I'm seeing lots of bold nail colors and plenty of mixing and matching of prints. Generally, the palette for spring and summer is bright and cheerful, and fabrics are loose-fitting and flowing.
For anyone who wants to step up their look this season, what are some must-haves? Again, color. Add a splash of neon with a bold handbag, or throw on a fun statement necklace or a few cuffs. Adding a sheer layer on top or a colorful lightweight scarf can help make a summer outfit more dynamic.
What trend are you really sick of right now? Crop-tops. They were fun for a season but seeing them sprouting up again this spring just feels like deja-vu.
What trend do you wish would come back in style? Strong tailoring and suits for women. I'm sure we've got another season or two but all of 2011's loose-fitting silhouettes will lead there eventually. Also: drama. Ever since Alexander McQueen's passing it feels as though there has been void in fashion with regard to his particular flair for eloquent theatrics.
Okay, let's get down and dirty for the girls who need fashion advice (aka me) -- what's a good generic first date outfit? I'm always a fan of less is more when it comes to dates. Pick one body part to accentuate: legs, chest, butt, etc., and keep the rest relatively under wraps. A slight heel always makes me feel more confident (platforms or wedges are a great way to add height and not skimp on comfort), and some fun accessories can help make an outfit feel more special. While it sounds clich but true, it's best to wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable. If you're tugging on ill-fitting tights or trying to walk in uncomfortable shoes, it'll cloud your ability to show off the best version of you.
What is a fashion DON'T for everyone? My only fashion don't is to avoid wearing trends for trend's sake. Not everyone is meant to wear this season's top trends. Pick those that fit your taste and dress for yourself.
What are the staple pieces every girl MUST have in her wardrobe? As for staples, great booties with a heel (I just got a fantastic pair from Rag & Bone) are a perfect transitional shoe for spring and fall. A great button-up never fails and a smart blazer will work wonders whether layered over a dress or denim. Bold accessories (be them jewelry, handbags, hats or scarves) are a good investment as they aren't dependent on season. Skirts and dresses of varying lengths are a safe bet, as every hemline comes back into style if you just wait a season or two. And a well-fitting cropped pant is a must in my mind.
Best street style: New York vs. LA? LA definitely wins for color and laid-back factor (think the aforementioned maxi, flats and oversized sunglasses). New York wins for its leather jackets, layering, high-high-heels and ability to forever make black look fresh.
Is there a city, subculture or place with a group of people who are really doing innovative stuff with fashion that we should all be paying attention to? Like a newer version of hipster culture? I hate to sound jaded but due to the globalization of fashion, the insatiable, international obsession with street style and ubiquitousness of trends encourages me to say no. Most trends catch on like wildfire -- because of the proliferation of technology -- and then die out just as quickly. I think the most innovative people to be paying attention to are those young designers who are disrupting fashion's seasonal model and poor production and manufacturing practices.
Who in the fashion world -- celebrities, models, scenesters, etc -- is killing it with fashion right now? I'm continually impressed with Alexander Wang's ever-evolving empire. He is one smart cookie. Tommy Ton has changed the way that we view fashion (quite literally as the photographer has helped define fashion photography's new street style-infused aesthetic). I love that Tom Ford is back in action and am eager to see how his namesake collections evolve. I'm also excited to see what the future holds for Carine Roitfeld (formerly of Vogue Paris) and Olivier Theyskens (formerly of Nina Ricci and Rochas) as their respective vision is unmatched. Anna Dello Russo also deserves a nod because she is the literal embodiment of being fabulous.
Who's your style icon? The love child of Anna Karina and Patti Smith.

What happened to hubby lunch buddy, Josh Kelley? Just wasn't the same, was it?
Last time we caught Katherine Heigl eating, she was surprisingly NOT with her mom, and instead was with her husband.
Now, it looks like Katherine's back to her old ways, because she's been spotted out having lunch with mom (above) at Little Dom's in Los Feliz once again.
We hope you and mom had a lovely lunch together, Katherine! Maybe next time you can try ANOTHER new lunch companion!
How about your Knocked Up co-star Seth Rogen? When's the last time you two hung out?

Hey Kandi?
Hey Kandi?
The girl group Xscape could sing their butts off and went gold, but they never quite crossed over to mainstream (read: white) audiences. Relegated to ghetto goddess status, Xscape hung up their weaves a few years ago, and each member is now doing her own thang. Chief among them is Kandi Burruss. If the name doesn?t ring a bell, Kandi?s songs?which include ?No Scrubs,? ?Bills, Bills, Bills? and a host of other smoking-hot, chart-topping collabos with She?kspere?will. They have made her a Grammy
He's gotten used to a rather warm reception by most fans following his Detroit bomb, but that all changed when Charlie Sheen failed to wow audience members at his Dallas show last night (April 27).
The "My Violent Torpedo of Truth" tour star was met with cheers and a standing ovation when he first hit the stage, but for some reason the scene switched, leaving the crowd in an uproar and leaving the performance in groups.
According to radio personality Kid Kraddick, he and Charlie were "heckled severely while on stage," adding that audience members began exiting the show "early by the dozens."
Not knowing the soon to be fate of the Big D tour stop, one of the attendees, TCU senior Mike Vosters, and one of Sheen's 50 social media intern finalists told press, "If he [Sheen] does something wrong, or if he says something against Texas, we're very proud people. So I don't think they're going to give him any slack if he starts cutting jokes or rubbing people the wrong way."

Justin Bieber is writing his new album while on tour.
The teen singing sensation - who is currently on his 'My World Tour' - has revealed, despite having to travel the globe, he has still found the time to lay down tracks for his next record and is "excited" about giving fans the opportunity to hear his new music this summer.
Writing on his twitter page, he said: "been writing alot of songs on the road. excited to just get this music out later this year and record this summer. (sic)"
As well as writing new songs, the 17-year-old 'Baby' hitmaker - who had a guest role on crime show 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' earlier this year - admitted he has caught the acting bug and "definitely" wants another role in front of the camera.
He recently explained: "I definitely want to do more acting, and further my career in that area, that's something I would love to do."
However, although he wants to branch out in his career, Justin is still concentrating on his music and hopes to secure some new collaborations in the future.
He said: "I would love to perform with Stevie Wonder or Beyonce Knowles."

?As the American Idol (tonight, 8 ET/PT) judges still seem to be struggling to find their inner critic, here's a suggestion for a note they can deliver beyond the ever-popular "pitchy" and the ever-necessary reminder that lyrics consist of words, not just a random collection of syllables: You're not stars yet, and you're certainly not "artists" (the show's most regrettably abused word).

This instant group-ascension happens on every Idol, even though the contestants who have achieved career success without victory are the exception, not the rule.
But it has been exacerbated this season by the overpraise the non-judgmental panel heaps upon them. So repeat after me: Wait until after you've sold out a few stadiums before you start telling the audience what to do, and that includes demanding they clap along.
In the meantime, concentrate on at least feigning humility. And Jacob and James, that goes double for you.
?On the other hand, no one can question the star status of South Park(Comedy, 10 ET/PT) co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

?Pemo Theodore, a Startup Coach & Australian origin online entrepreneur, video interviews venture capitalists & women entrepreneurs on the shortfall in funding for women @EZebis: Winning theVenture Game for Women.
Video interview with Neil Rimer. Neilis a co-founder and Partner of Index Ventures. In 1992, Neil started the venture capital activity of Index's predecessor firm, later co-founding Index Ventures and raising the firm's first fund in 1996. Neil's current investment focus is on innovative solutions for energy and environmental problems.
Index portfolio companies with women CEOs or foundees:Astley Clarke, Notonthehighstreet, AlertMe, Foodily, doubleTwist, 7TM, GoTryItOn, Editd (co-founder), Mobissimo, Net-a-Porter, Songkick (co-founder), Seedcamp, GenMab. In 2009, Index were honored by Astia with a Diversified Portfolio Award - the firm with the greatest percentage of investments in woman CEOs or founders. You can find Neil on Twitter @narimer

Pemo: What is your sweet spot, in what kinds of businesses do you like to invest?
Neil: We are really early stage investors. I think we've been most excited about getting involved with the entrepreneurs at the earliest stage possible. Really help them form the idea & help them recruit the nucleus that will create the management team. So we really invest as early as we feel comfortable.
Pemo: Fantastic & is there any particular theme that you guys are interested in than others?
Neil: I think we're really interested in opportunities to disrupt big segments of the economy leveraging technology & innovative business models.
It doesn't have to be entirely newly invented technology. It could be adopting or applying technology that's been around for a little while but coming up with a novel approach or novel business model that allows you to put a combination together that is disruptive.
Pemo: So there's no particular industry that you guys focus on? It's just that piece, the early stage & the disruption that you like?
Neil: No I think that's really a philosophy & we look at any industry providing that it's large & that there's a plan that could result in building a big company that would be valued highly.
Pemo: And make lots of money?
Neil: I never thought I'd say this out loud but I actually even find the insurance industry interesting these days.
Pemo: Oh fantastic, ok, so there's lots of possibilities out there.
Neil: If that's possible then anything's possible.
Pemo: Really
Pemo: What percentage of women startups do you get pitches for? And what percentage have you funded?
Neil: We don't really keep those statistic, although we probably should. We have funded a fair number of businesses that have been started by women or women teams over the years. I don't know if that's because we do a fair amount of investing in Europe. But we've probably funded a dozen or so, possibly more businesses that have been started by women. In terms of whether or not that's a higher hit rate based on ones that are pitched by men or pitched by women. I'd have to assume that it's a higher hit rate because we don't see that many businesses pitched by women. Because we've done that many, probably means on balance it is a higher hit rate.
Pemo: Have you noted differences with women entrepreneurs in how they pitch & build businesses? (We're getting into that area of generalization & I know it's a bit touchy?)
Neil: I frankly think that the variability among women is as great as the variability between men & women. I don't think I've seen any particular bias one way or another.
Pemo: That's brilliant!
Pemo: I have been told that venture capitalists fund people similar to them, white, male etc. What is your take on this & if this is happening how can women startups find an opening in this culture?
Neil: I think the venture capital industry is fairly large at this point. There's a lot of different people you could be talking about or talking to. But I don't think the good investors try to fund people who are like them. In fact if what you say is true, then I don't know who's funding all of the guys from South East Asia who are going to Silicon Valley & starting businesses. They certainly don't fit the mold that you talked about. I think strong investors will look at somebody's background, their track record, their vision & their ability to lead a team & carry out the vision & really don't pay much attention to whether they come from the same background.
In fact I think diversity is always a benefit so that's going to bring additional strengths to the company.
It will help them draw on a broader pool to build their team. It will give them access to a broader network to sell their product into & ultimately to exit their business. I don't see how restricting the scope of people you fund can help in any way.
Pemo: Aileen Lee, Kleiner Perkins, recently wrote a post on Techcrunch about the market of women & how huge that market is. I would imagine as you said with diversity, having women on the team is definitely going to mean you're going to have an insight into that market.
Neil: Well you know sometimes people forget that half of the customer base out there is women. In fact it's more than half, because many products the purchasing decisions are essentially made by women. So you may want to understand that. You may want to have some people on your team who understand that segment market.
Pemo: Thank you, thank you that's great encouragement
Pemo: Do you think that networking with Venture Capitalists is harder for women entrepreneurs in Europe?
Neil: I don't think so.
Pemo: What do you see as the obstacles for inclusion of women entrepreneurs in achieving funding in Europe?
Neil: I think the biggest problem & probably the only problem is that there aren't enough women in technical & engineering & scientific tracks.
I think that given that we invest in lots of technology companies, many of the founders & members of the founding team come from that background. If it's predominantly a male source then by the sheer numbers we're going to see more male entrepreneurs. So we end up funding more of them. Really it's a supply problem. I don't see any obstacle to women getting in front of us with their great idea.
Pemo: Great so really a lot of people do say that it starts really young as in children & encouraging girls to study technical subjects.
Neil: That's right!
Pemo: Do you think that women need to have their business developed before they can achieve funding?
Neil: Yeah but I don't know why that would apply more to women than men. There are some businesses & in some cases some entrepreneurs where you would only be comfortable if they have significant prior experience. There are some instances where you're willing to back a couple of kids out of university or out of a graduate program with no prior experience but a lot of vision & a lot of promise & belief that they're scalable. And I don't that see that's any different for men or women.
Pemo: It's really obvious that you've got no bias Neil, because even the question was a curly one for you. Thank you
Pemo; Often advice for sourcing venture is equated with dating, implying that there is a matching that needs to happen with entrepreneur & investor. Have you noticed a general psychological profile of venture capitalists and also of entrepreneurs that promotes the attraction & synergy between them to develop a great startup?
Neil: Yes so I think that confidence is the fundamental currency of these decisions & it really cuts both ways. I think the entrepreneur has to have a lot of confidence in the investor that they're letting into their company & that they're ultimately forming a very important partnership with. And the investor has to feel that way about the entrepreneur. That's again like dating or like a marriage.
You have to be able to look at each other & feel like no matter what comes, you're going to be able to face it.
You may have arguments & you may have disagreements but one of you will end up convincing the other, or you both will be in agreement to begin with, what the right thing to do is. You'll face whatever challenges & this is somebody that you'd like to go into battle with. I think again that applies for any entrepreneur. I don't think it's any different for men or for women. But I do think that that is probably the single thing for any entrepreneur to convince an experienced investor. Lots of people can come in with interesting ideas, big markets, nice demos but the real question is, given that I know that things will not go as planned (& that's really a given), is this someone that you're willing to get into that kind of trouble with. Are you confident that you will be able to get through those challenges & prevail in a very productive way. Actually are you going to enjoy doing that because life is short & you prefer to do this with teams that you're going to enjoy spending lots & lots of time with. That's a key fundamental question. I think chemistry has a lot to do with that. The approach that somebody takes in a conversation, how straightforward they are & whether or not they are the type that shares risk & talks about risk & says 'Hey this is the biggest challenge that I'm facing, I have a couple of ideas about how I might deal with it but what are your ideas?' Rather than a different approach would be to dress everything up & conceal risk & hope that the investor only figures out that that risk exists when it's too late & they're down the path.
Pemo: Authenticity & building trust is what I'm hearing are very important & that there's a human connection between the investor & the entrepreneur.
Neil: Yep
Pemo: Very good thank you.
Pemo: In the dance with an entrepreneur both in the decision making process of funding a startup & then in working with those startups what are the necessary qualities that make a good venture capitalist. Some of the talents mentioned: Would you trust your gut instincts & feelings that happen within the relationship with the entrepreneur as signs about what's happening in the business, in the startup? Or would you ?manage by influence or persuasion?
Neil: Again I think you want to have the kind of dialogue & relationship that you would have in a personal relationship. This may be very different than what you hear from some other folks. There's kind of no room for formality or politics or protocol I think in a discussion between partners. We don't see ourselves as anything other than just another partner in a business. This is the kind of the stuff that gets in the way at the larger companies & the incumbents that our companies are trying to run circles around. So if we get caught up in the same kind of stuff, we're not going to do very well. We really need to have just a really direct, open discussion. There should be nothing that you can't say to each other. You can criticize the business as much as you need to to make a point, if that's genuine & it shouldn't be seen as an attack on somebody's value as a person & it shouldn't affect the relationship. In the same way that 2 brothers or 2 sisters can really say anything to each other if there's that kind of underlying trust & respect & love that protects them & allows them to just communicate very effectively. I think you really need to aspire to that same kind of channel between partners in a business, whether they're founders or founder & investor.
Pemo: Yes because you're working so closely together for a long time, correct?
Neil: Absolutely.
Pemo: Thank you so much Neil, it's been really, really valuable to hear your feedback about this issue & I really appreciate that you've taken the time out of your busy schedule.
Neil: My pleasure thanks for giving me the opportunity.
